My views on the New York Times

The New York Times has been a pleasure to read the past month. Before this, I normally enjoyed a local paper or USA Today along with my breakfast.
Almost everyday, there is a story on the font page that pertains to the race for the Republican nomination. Naturally, as a Republican, I find myself reading these articles. Even though I’ve been able to vote for about one year now, this is probably the first time that I have kept a constant eye on politics. I can not necessarily say why this is. It could be because DU is having a presidential debate and I feel the need to be informed, or maybe it is because this will be the first presidential election I will be voting in, or it just simply could be that there is always a political story on the front page of the times.
As opposed to other newspapers I have read, the New York Times seems to have a wide variety of stories on the front page, but the main focus of the majority of the newspaper is on stories of different people. This is another reason why I have enjoyed my time reading this paper. It is different from reading any local paper for the fact that the New York Times does not merely focus on special events or town issues; rather it has stories on a wide range of people.
The only thing I find troubling about this newspaper is that it seems to have more of a liberal slant. This is probably the Republican in me talking, but the articles that I read on the Republican candidates never really seem to bring out the positives in the candidates. I’ve read a few articles that made me feel like they were bashing their political strategies and so on. Excuse me if I am wrong (because I may of actually missed it), but I have yet to come across an article on Obama about the mistakes he has made or what he needs to work on. All I am saying is that I would expect such a big name newspaper to be a little more neutral, especially in the political department.
