How I keep informed

Typically, I read the newspaper almost every morning with breakfast. Although I do not read every article, I like to get an idea of what is going on in the world. My favorite newspapers are USA Today and The New York Times. I’d say the rest of my news comes from watching national news on television no more that once or twice a week and occasionally tuning in to the Colbert Report or the Daily Show. I think it is important to be informed of issues not only in the U.S. but around the world as well. I do feel like I am fairly informed about today’s current events, however, I also receive a large chunk of my news by just talking to my friends. I love hearing about other things they have seen on TV or have read.
On that same note, I realize that I get a lot of my news on Facebook. This news may not be of current events, but every time I check my news feed I am keeping up with my friends social lives. It is also interesting to note that I sometimes find myself reading breaking news through Facebook, which would happen when I haven’t had time to catch up on the news. I am a little ashamed to say that I found out Osama was killed through multiple Facebook Status updates. Obviously, I checked on a more reliable media website to back that information up. However, I can definitely say there has been a few times where I read something important on Facebook and had to back it up with reliable sources on the Internet.
